If you've seen any of the rest of my ArtStation you'll know that I've been working on an online tool for customizing modular 3d printable environments for table-top role-playing. Talk about niche eh.
I've been finding lately that I've wanted to go beyond the limitations of the grid system with a set height. Its probably fine for most gamers, but I like modelling and I began feeling a little frustrated when I couldn't make something better because it'd break the system.
So this latest piece is my experiment to see how I could use the builder tool to quickly lay out or sketch in 3d, and then go modelling from there without concern for sticking to the system's constraints.
I should mention that this took between 2-3 days to build. I've got quite an extensive asset library that I've built for Crackpot, it saved a fair amount of time...especially since I just did this in my head and didn't rely on concept.
I think my next step will be to texture it....I mean I like form and lighting, since I think that's the basis for environments, but I also think it'd be nice to add some colour to my ArtStation.
Hope you enjoy
Duplicated the quadrant and made it into a full building. You'll see bits repeating, but it does show the modular nature to a degree.
Here's the same quadrant but on opposite corners.
What I first envisioned for this environment was a little plaza with colonnades.
It changed into something else obviously, but this clip is the closest example of my original intent.
